Jamaica has created a name as a fashion centre in the Caribbean and today, our beauty industry is a major contributor to the national economy, generating millions of dollars in goods and services. The sector includes a wide range of professionals, hairdressers, cosmetologists, barbers, beauty therapists and manufacturers of health, skin and hair products.
With the industry’s increasing importance, there is a critical need to create formal mechanisms to regulate the sector and facilitate its development along professional lines.
The National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists (NAHC) has been established as an umbrella organization representing the varied interests of the sector, to bring the work of the NAHC to public attention, establish links between the Association and the various segments of the media and maintain a high level of awareness among NAHC members regarding industry matters.
The growth and development of this sector requires a structured framework of rules and regulations, complemented by effective mechanisms for professional development. These measures are essential to create an environment conducive to growth, securing the industry’s continued prosperity. Our goal is to enhance and facilitate this sector to meet its demand.
